The FFF Family Pays Tribute to Colleague at St. Jude Give Thanks Walk
With a strong sense of purpose, the Farkouh partners, professional staff and their family members assembled in Cadman Park on the Brooklyn waterfront on the morning of Saturday, November 22nd to honor the memory of dedicated colleague of 3 years and great friend, William Lepro, who had recently been taken by cancer.
The firm’s participation in the event – The St. Jude Give Thanks Walk, a national walk in over 65 communities across the country, had been a mission for William since the spring of this year. The firm had been looking for ways to expand its community outreach and William suggested supporting the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the renown pediatric cancer research and treatment center. Leadership welcomed the idea and asked William to direct the firm’s participation in this year’s Walk.

William made all the arrangements with St. Jude and started rallying the troops as soon as busy season ended in October. Leadership had set a goal of $10,000 and every few weeks, William would send out updates as to the fundraising progress. Each update inspired greater fundraising efforts. Ultimately, the Farkouh team substantially surpassed the firm’s goal and raised over $20,000 – becoming one of top fundraising teams in the New York City Walk over the Brooklyn Bridge.
Sadly, William passed away on the Wednesday, November 19th, three days preceding the walk. He had given his all to ensuring the success of the Walk and had personally raised several thousand dollars.

Although the wind-chill factor was in the twenties, the team members were resolute in their objective – to show their commitment to fighting cancer and to honor their colleague. His commitment to helping others left an indelible impression on his colleagues. It was with William on their minds and with his picture pinned to their royal blue team sweatshirts, that some 60 members of the Farkouh team traversed the Brooklyn Bridge in both directions this past Saturday.
Team leader, Kenny Hicks, put the event into perspective when he said, “William’s positive attitude and commitment to helping others inspired us all. While we are deeply saddened by his passing, we are comforted by knowing that William was so proud of what the team achieved and that he believed the team’s efforts through the great work performed at St. Jude could make a positive difference in the lives of families affected by pediatric cancer.”
